Vidovčica 16
A boutique residential project on a hillside street in Zagreb, Croatia — designed in collaboration with GOLDPROJEKT architectural studio.
Vidovčica 16 is a boutique residential project located on a quiet hillside street in Zagreb, Croatia, designed in collaboration with the architectural studio GOLDPROJEKT. The site occupies a sloped plot in an established residential district — a position deliberately chosen for its proximity to the city while remaining removed from the density and noise of central Zagreb. The architecture works with the natural grade of the land rather than against it: the building cascades down the slope in a series of carefully composed volumes, each shaped to take advantage of light, view, and outdoor exposure specific to its position. Integrated underground parking sits within the lower volume of the structure, freeing the visible facade for residential use and preserving the green character of the street. The result is a compact development that fits naturally into its hillside context while delivering a level of design and material quality rarely associated with Zagreb's residential market.

The architectural language is unambiguously contemporary and shaped by careful material choice — warm timber cladding in vertical ribbed profiles, decorative perforated metal screens used as accent elements, structural concrete at the base, and full-height glazing framed in fine dark metal. The composition reads as a series of interlocking cubic volumes rather than a single mass, each volume cantilevered or recessed to create private terraces, balconies, and outdoor living spaces that genuinely extend the interior. Inside, the design rises to the same standard: open-plan living areas anchored by full-marble fireplaces, herringbone parquet flooring, walnut joinery, and lighting compositions designed alongside the architecture rather than added afterwards. Floor-to-ceiling glazing on every primary elevation maximizes daylight, while the precise positioning of openings frames specific outlooks — the hillside, the sky, the surrounding greenery — turning each window into a deliberate composition. The overall result is residential architecture conceived as a coherent design object: every material chosen for how it ages, every proportion tuned for how light moves across it, every detail kept quiet rather than decorative.
